Minimum wage rises in New Zealand.

The Government has confirmed that the adult minimum wage will increase from $17.70 to $18.90 on 1 April 2020.
Also - the starting-out and training wages will increase to $15.12 per hour. This rate remains at 80% of the adult minimum wage.
The increase to $18.90 in 2020 approaching toward reaching the government’s plan for a $20 minimum wage by 1 April 2021. The $18.90 rate was determined after consultation with some employer and employee representatives and took into account the current economic context and the interests of businesses and workers.
The current minimum wage rates (before tax) are as at 1 April 2019 and apply to employees aged 16 years or over:
Adult $17.70;
Starting-out $14.16
Training $14.16
Employees have to be paid at least the minimum hourly wage rate for every hour worked.
